Thanks to the Fellowship's Planning Committee for providing periodic updates on the UUFP Expansion/Relocation progress.
This Pulpit Minute was delivered by Parker Stokes at the February 5, 2023, Sunday Service.
The Five-Year Plan, mandated by our bylaws and summarized for you last month by Gayle Phillips, has finally been submitted to the Board for their review. The joke in the Planning Committee is that we have truly been working on this plan for five years.
This work started in 2017 with development of our Core Values, Mission Statement and Vision, because, on the advice of the UUA, we should not make a plan until we know these things about ourselves. We now apply these to all the Fellowship’s planned activities to guide our actions. You will recall that when we applied them to our current building, we found it would not support all that we wanted to become and to do. During the last three years, we have been working towards the replacement building. We have completed a very successful Capital Campaign and now enter the second year of receiving your very generous donations and the money is safely accumulating in our bank account. THANKS to you, we are now ready when the right property comes along. We are staying in communication with our real estate agent, but in the last four months there have been no suitable properties on the market.
Personally, I am proud that as we come back together after COVID, we continue to attract new members by word of mouth, internet, and our monthly Warwick Boulevard sign slogans. Our almost three years of Moral Monday-Black Lives Matter demonstrations are starting to receive more supportive honks even from cars going the other way who can’t read our signs but know what we are doing.
We are “planning” to continue these monthly Pulpit Minutes to keep you up to date.
Thanks.
Parker Stokes
