I.  Lisa Walker, Bay Aging Vice President of Advocacy Resources

  • Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP) – Volunteer coordinators provide education, counseling and assistance to older consumers and people with disability insurance on topics such as medical benefits programs, long-term care insurance, Medicare and Medicaid.
  • A brief update on current COVID-19 scams that are happening


II. Susie Castle, Peninsula Agency on Aging Care Coordinator

  • Caregiving resources in our community
  • Elder Abuse and what to do if you suspect a senior is a victim of abuse
Susan’s experience as a care coordinator at PAA covers the past 17 years. Her department conducts the initial assessments and annual reassessments for Meals on Wheels and personal care. Susan outlines PAA’s mini geriatric assessment for every client, providing services as well as making referrals to other resources and services in the community. Susan is  also assigned to a number of income-based properties where seniors live independently but may need help with services in their homes to help them to continue to live independently.
