Please join us on the fourth Wednesday of the month at Beloved Community Wednesday in the UUFP sanctuary building for deep sharing and discussion of How To Be An Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi. Potluck starts at 6:15 p.m. (doors open at 6:00 p.m.), and programming starts at 7:00 p.m.
In this work, Kendi undergoes a careful examination of systemic racism and provides guidelines for how to resist this ingrained system in order to create a new antiracist system. Each chapter builds on the last. In every chapter, Kendi also shares with us his personal experiences. These stories are very compelling and bring the larger points he is making to life. By sharing deeply, Kendi is also modeling how we can and should examine our own lives as well. He demonstrates how this is an important first step in becoming an Antiracist.
Whether you were a part of this group last year or are just joining us now, all are welcome! The chapters are short, so it’s easy to catch up. Walk-ins throughout the year are also welcome. This church year we will continue to consider closely one chapter of this thoughtful book at a time, picking up where we left off last spring. We will also have two sessions of special programming to be announced. If you would like to be on our email list for reminders, or if you would like help obtaining the book or for more information, contact email@example.com. (Please include How To Be An Antiracist in the subject line.)
