“Flowing as One”
The Water Communion is one of Unitarian Universalism’s beloved seasonal rituals. It was created at the 1980 UU Women and Religion Continental Convocation as a feminist affirmation of community, but over the years it became dominated by personal travelogs. Today we hold the Water Communion to emphasize what it means to belong.
For the first time since the pandemic, we’ll celebrate the Water Communion together! Please bring a small amount of water from your home — from your kitchen sink is perfect. During the service, we’ll pour the water into a common bowl, representing what each of us brings to the shared life of our congregation.
