Andrew Millard  “All Labor Has Dignity” A casual observer might be forgiven for thinking that many of our national holidays are about cookouts and car sales.  However, Labor Day was intended as a celebration of the rights and achievements of American workers.  It became a federal holiday following an infamous railroad strike — with one of our Universalist forebears on the wrong side.
