2022-06-19 09:30 2022-06-19 10:30 America/New_York Sunday Forum: “Situational Ethics”

Presented by Kathryn Ozyurt Philosophers as far back as Plato up through Immanuel Kant and Simone de Beauvoir have explored the topic of ethics under various designations. Situational ethics is a teleological or consequential theory that is primarily concerned with the outcome or consequences of an action. In other words, the end result is more important than following a set of prescriptive rules expected to govern a situation. Based on a UU Tapestry of Faith workshop, our discussion will introduce the concept and then discuss how religious ethics are applied today.
