Sunday Forum: “Reparations”

2023-10-08 09:30 2023-10-08 10:30 America/New_York Sunday Forum: “Reparations”

Presented by Carl McCargo In this Forum, we will explore our society’s isms, e.g., racism, sexism, classism, etc. These are mere symptoms of our culture’s real pathology: refusal to face its legacy of chattel enslavement. We will discuss healthy concepts and strategies to promote healing from our past legacy of crimes against humanity. Our team hopes you will join us at the UUA General Assembly, and beyond, to come to the rescue of our ailing culture. Carl W. McCargo (M.S.), has been a UU for 38+ years. He earned his M.S. in Clinical Psychology in 1981, entitled, “The Differential Portrayal of Black and White Television Families.” Carl has an enduring concern for the insidious and overt “teachings” of racism in our U.S. media. Over his lifetime, Carl has been an Oklahoma farm boy, a migratory cotton picker, and a reactor control operator on a nuclear submarine. Carl feels these life experiences have given him a unique perspective on being an American.
