Sunday Forum: “Coal Blooded”
From 9:30 am to 10:30 amPresented by Brandon Davis “‘Coal Blooded’ – a documentary short on the community impacts of the coal terminal in Southeast Newport News, Virginia. The 200-acre coal pile is located right next to a redlined neighborhood that today has the highest rate of asthma in the city. “In 3 months, this video went from an idea to reality, with interview testimonials from Mayor McKinley Price, Dr. Johnny Finn (CNU Professor), Asa Townsend (CNU Alum), and Angela Harris (Social Activist). I have learned so much about the environment I live in, as well as my passion for documentary filmmaking. After watching, I hope you understand some of the harmful practices that affect this city and take action to learn more” (Brandon Davis Media).
