For those who cannot join the virtual gathering, we can still appreciate the beauty and meaning of the Ritual during this time of social distancing! The Celtic Holiday of Lughnassah takes place at the midpoint between the Summer Solstice and the Autumn Equinox. It can be celebrated in several different ways. In ancient Irish mythology, it was said to represent the Funeral Feast and Games created by the god, Lugh, to honor the life and sacrifice of his stepmother, Tailtiu. It can also be a time to give thanks for the First Harvest of the growing season, a celebration of the vibrant energy and warmth of the height of Summer, or simply a sweet time of fellowship, sharing and communion before the “busyness” of Autumn commences. THE CUSTOMARY SCHEDULE ONCE UUFP ONSITE EVENTS RESUME. Planning for this Ritual will be on Friday, July 16, at 7:00 p.m., in the Fellowship building.  All of good will are welcome at this open planning session.  We often state that the “Real Magic” takes place at our Planning sessions, as insights and ideas spark, kindle, and grow into inspiration and creation. ​The Lughnassah Ritual will be celebrated on Friday, July 30, at 7:00 p.m., ​in the Fellowship building. (Planners arrive at 6:00 for set-up and run-through.)
