Connected Parenting Support Group at UUFP   Connected Parenting Support Group, Sunday September 25th: Will meet in person on Sunday September 25th after service from 12:30-2:30. Childcare will be provided. Group Purpose: To support one another in our efforts to foster healthy connection with our children and one another. Group Goals: a) Fostering healthy attachment with our children that we may collaborate with them in their growth and learning rather than just modify behaviors using authoritarian punishments to obtain desired behaviors. b) Recognizing our children’s behaviors as communication expressing a need rather than ascribing negative values to our children’s character such as “manipulative” or “bad”. c) Respecting our children’s autonomy. Our children are whole entire complete people with their own value and are entitled to their own feelings, their own goals, and their own ideas. d) Nurturing our children’s humanity through modeling empathy. e) Rejecting strategies that use punishment, shame, isolation, threats, fear, or violence of any kind, including physical, emotional, or psychological. f) Guiding and helping our children through their struggles using collaborative strategies and problem solving whenever it is safe to do so.
